I wanted to share what George saw the other morning. The images are a little grainy, but these woodpeckers were on our water oak, and I had to show them off. If they were a little higher, my tree face would have ears!
We have a family of Red-Bellied Woodpeckers nearby, but these guys are the larger Pileated Woodpeckers, and their work echoes through the woods so loudly.

We have many birds in our backyard. However, it is rare to see two woodpeckers at the same time here. Upon closer inspection, I could see tons of ants crawling up and down this tree. It seems to be very healthy and growing strong. I hope it stays that way.
