Hello, everyone. We are finally enjoying some warmer weather here in the Carolinas and are ready to start planting in the ground! George said he would be spending the weekend planting tomatoes and peppers and setting up some soaker hoses.

He spent last weekend splitting one of the bee hives. Some neighbors came over to observe, but from what I saw, he put them to work helping! They live right down the road from us and are about to get their first hive. Mentoring is big in the area, and George has received so much help from his bee club members that he was overjoyed to spread the knowledge…he loves teaching.

I was busy with my daughter’s new baby, Onyx, the Great Dane puppy! I have been puppy-sitting while she is at work, but my little Gracie is not too happy about that.

We received an egg license to sell eggs!!

I have been inundated with designing all sorts of labels. I had to make an egg label because each carton must have our information and expiration date. I also designed some honey labels, which have their own set of requirements. Did you know honey is not measured by ounces but by net weight? Even the honey jars are of different sizes because honey weighs more than water. Anyway, these labels must be approved and are required to be certain sizes and contain specific information.

I’ve added a few new items to the website. Along the top menu, you will see a Plants menu. The Plants menu has a drop-down and shows the various peppers and tomatoes we will be selling at the market. I added photos of the produce and posted a link beside each plant telling you where we bought the seeds and giving you all the information you need to care for your plants.

Another addition to the menu is a link to my Art site. I still haven’t begun selling my work online, but I have made some prints to sell. To do this at the Farmer’s Market, the art must be related to farming, but I enjoy creating all sorts of art and using different mediums. I seem drawn to wildlife, mountains, and even a couple of pet portraits. I also enjoy editing photos and have shared some examples on my site. I use PhotoShop to restore old photos and even digitally paint.

It’s wild but fun! Until next time…
