We are planning on being at the Conway Farmer’s Market on August 2nd from 8 am to 1 pm.

Market Line-Up:

  • This is the end of the year for our Local Honey; it will only be available while supplies last.
  • We should have more Aloe Vera and Basil plants.
  • Homemade soap with locally sourced ingredients.

Hello everyone, we just got home from a busy weekend in Columbia, SC, where the South Carolina Beekeepers Association held its 50th Anniversary celebration. George was asked to speak on behalf of his local Blackwater Beekeeping Club, and we are so proud of him.

The SCBA holds conferences twice a year in different counties of the state. They had a great lineup of speakers ranging from Master Beekeepers to YouTube celebrities and Scientists. This year, our celebrities were Jeff Horchoff, (aka “Mr. Ed”) and Bob Binnie, owner of Blue Ridge Honey Company. Our scientist was Dr. David Tarpy, Ph.D. in Entomology. Each came with tons of great information, funny stories, and terrific presentations

There were also break-out presentations in different rooms on various topics about the honeybee. The SCBA state club calls on highly qualified members to speak on different subjects regarding the theme. The theme this year was a Celebration of the Past, Present, and Future. Master beekeepers, Educators, and Specialists from around the state came to inform and share things they have learned through the years, what they are seeing now, and what we should expect moving forward.

The hallways were filled with vendors and authors selling all sorts of beekeeping equipment and goodies at discounted prices. Dadant, Mann Lake, HillCo.buzz, to name a few. The convention also holds all sorts of games and contests in honey, poetry, photography, beeswax, candles, and mead. All are judged for perfection, not compared to each other, but to a standard held highly by our expertly trained “Honey Judges“. Folks win supplies from vendors, raffles, and door prizes.

I cannot wait to share some things I have learned from the weekend.

♥happy bees♥
